Tom Waits, earlier this summer, called time on his plans to invite us all to a listening party for his forthcoming album ‘Bad As Me‘ (released next week).  In the video, below, he gives us all a few things to chew on, as he contemplates the state of the music business vis a vis piracy, ‘streaming’ and the notion of privacy.

I think the video is great because Waits is addressing an alarming issue for the creative world – the notion of making a living from an art form and how much jeopardy that is in due to piracy, downloading, freeloading, whatever….

Turns out, subscribers to Waits mailing list will receive an exclusive invite for a ‘private’ playback of Bad As Me in their email inbox today.

The record comes out on Anti, and will no doubt be amazing.  Waits, after all, can do no wrong.
