Twelve posters designed by UK artists to promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games were unveiled yesterday. Of the 12 artists involved in the official poster collection, four are former Turner Prize winners.
My favourite (pictured above) is by Rachel Whiteread, the first woman to win the Turner Prize, who has used coffee cup stains as a representation of the ubiquitous Olympic rings.
Other artists involved in the project include Tracey Emin who gave a brief but insightful interview with BBC Art Editor Will Gompertz about her poster for the Paralympics featuring two love birds.
Although they’re not all to my taste, at £7 per poster they make for a desirable collection.
