Last year we posted images of the London 2012 Olympics official posters, and we now bring news of the latest collectible in what is sure to be an endless line of hook-ups as we move closer to Britain’s main event of the year.

The Royal Mint has unveiled a collectible coin collection – each coin celebrating one of the 29 sports at the Olympic Games or the Paralympics Games.

Designs for each of the coins were submitted by the public, and 29 lucky winners can now see their creations on sale at the Royal Mint website.

Neil Wolfson’s football design (above) tackles that age-old problem of what is onside and what is offside… (Shame his winning entry uses the ‘old’ version of the offside rule, not taking into consideration the is he/isn’t he interfering with play lottery that often compounds referee decisions nowadays) *ends moan* It is a nice coin, though.
