I’m not sure there’s another country in the world that dedicates a day of celebration to a native poet, but in Scotland Burn’s Night is one of the biggest events in the calendar. The evening sticks to a strict running order which involves an array of traditions and formalities including addressing the stuffed sheep stomach that you’re about to eat, dancing, poetry and speeches.
Perhaps the best thing about Burns Night is the excuse to wear tartan. Scotweb Tartan Mill have created an online ‘design your own’ tartan which you can create and buy. The website offers you a range of colours and shades and you control the width and order of the design. I came up with our own Here Comes The Neighbourhood simple tartan (pictured above) that can be purchased online from Scotweb.
