NOEL GALLAGHER MEETS MARIO BALOTELLI

On BBC Football Focus this lunchtime, Noel Gallagher coaxed Manchester City’s talented firebrand Mario Balotelli out from the shadows and into the studio for a rare interview.  It’s a great piece of television because the charisma of either of these two is enough to fill a stadium in their own right.  Balotelli has been on the end of some hysterical rumours in the last year or so, and Gallagher looks to put some of them to rest in this piece.  Mario is a fantastic talent at only 21 years old, and it’s refreshing to see a footballer act in a more impulsive and a less media-trained way – even if it does cause Roberto Mancini the occasional headache.

BBC RADIO: BE PART OF IT

After seeing R’s post about A Year In New York I was reminded of a series of BBC adverts to promote local radio stations.  The ‘Be Part of It’ ads, first shown in 2009, used a montage of shots of famous landmarks specific to each region, encouraging people to ‘love where you live.’ My favourite, though I admit I’m biased, is the Newcastle upon Tyne ad. All the versions of the advert feel very nostalgic, thanks to the gorgeous version of Unchained Melody by The Fleetwoods.
