Better late than never…

In yesterday’s post entitled Trend : Birds I featured a pair of shoes from Israeli designer, Kobi Levi. Levi’s shoes are more like sculptures, cleverly made to resemble other objects, people and things. One design which is currently available is ‘Blond Ambition’ (picture above), a shoe dedicated to Madonna’s 1990 world tour.
Need I say more…?
On Tuesday night Sunderland-born fashion designer Gareth Pugh appeared ‘in conversation’ with Colin McDowell at Northumbria University. The designer, whose creations have been worn by Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Kylie, studied at the City of Sunderland College before Central St Martin’s.
Stüssy Deluxe dropped their new collection yesterday (which you can view here) and to coincide with this, they’ve released this short interview with Original Tribe Member Alex Baby, who reminisces on the beginnings of the label, and just how hard you had to look in the late 80’s to find those classic pieces. There’s some nice archive footage in the vid, too.
I’m fond of the Stüssy items that I have, and I still often sleep in a T that I wore when I was a boy – the NYC landscape on it displays the Twin Towers so it’s a bit eerie to contemplate these days… Nice shirt, though.
The Marni collection for H&M launched in the UK today, creating queues down British high streets and causing the H&M website to temporarily crash.
The collection contains 70 pieces, mostly featuring Bohemian prints, all with a laid-back and easy-to-wear feel. I’ve posted a selection of images from the collection below but perhaps the promo ad, directed by Sofia Coppola, best shows off the collection…
Here’s the new promo clip for long-time Adidas collaborator Stella McCartney’s new ‘Weekender’ collection.
The video features a great track called ‘Educated’ by Femme.
